What is the purpose of Education? I have been wondering about this for many many years , I will share a few of them here and request you to give your opinion. My elders felt that Education was a process through which you obtain a certificate which in turn will help you secure a job preferably Government job and secures your life. My friends thought education along with providing job was also a status symbol like Engineering, Doctor scientist etc. The present generation I hope changes its view on education in the sense that education has much more relevance than just providing a livelihood or status symbol.
There is lot of debate going on about sex education, but little do we realize that the today how sex is being used to influence the minds of adolescents through ads, dress culture, television, media etc. Do our universities teach us how to get a good job? Are we taught as what we are good at (skills, special abilities). Do they teach us human values? Do they teach us about our culture and social values?. I only know that there is always a storm brewing up on the subject of making the state language compulsory.
With this education system what kind of a generation can we expect in future?
